What happened
CoreWeave (CRWV) stock is down 41% since October 6 as of Monday, as AI-related debt nears $500 billion, raising financing worries at Oracle (ORCL) and Nvidia (NVDA) before big-tech earnings. Morgan Stanley counts $466 billion of such borrowing through September, up from $101 billion a year earlier. CoreWeave's interest bill jumped 140% to $640 million last quarter, while Oracle carries $125.3 billion of debt.
Why it matters
CoreWeave's slide matters because AI companies are paying for chips and data centers with borrowed money, and lenders are now asking for more in return. Nvidia sells chips to these borrowers, so harder financing could mean fewer orders. One strategist said the worry is shifting from a small-company problem to a wider market risk.
