What happened
Cricut (CRCT) stock soared 49% to $8.90 on Wednesday after the craft-machine maker beat earnings forecasts with $188.6M in sales and declared a $0.70-per-share special dividend. Sales were up 11% from a year earlier, and profit rose 36% to $27.8 million. Cricut will also pay a regular $0.10 dividend on January 21, 2027, and renewed its buyback program (the company buying back its own shares) up to $50 million. Analysts had expected about $164 million in sales, so the result was a clear surprise.
Why it matters
Cricut's report suggests its crafting machines are selling again: product sales rose 17% and international sales jumped 30%. The special dividend sends cash straight to shareholders, and the company still holds $272.7 million with no debt. Holiday-season discounts are expected to squeeze profit margins (how much of each sale is kept as profit) in the fourth quarter.
