What happened

SoFi (SOFI) stock jumped about 11% to near $16 on Tuesday after record third-quarter earnings and a raised 2026 outlook, as revenue rose 44% to $1.37 billion. SoFi is an app that offers loans, banking and investing. It ended the quarter with 17.1 million members, up 35% from a year ago, and lifted its 2026 sales forecast (guidance) to $5.04 billion from $4.75–$4.85 billion. Later in the day, the stock was up about 14%, its biggest one-day gain since April 2025.

Why it matters

SoFi's results show that demand for online loans and banking is still growing even though interest rates are higher than the company expected. Profit rose 73% to $241 million, and loans written off as unpaid (charge-offs) fell to 2.26% from 2.62%. Even so, the stock is still down about 38% this year, so the jump recovers only part of earlier losses.
