What happened
Nestlé (NESN:SIX) shares rose 1.3% before the open on Thursday after the food maker said third-quarter organic sales grew 4%, beating forecasts, and it kept its 2026 outlook. Sales volume, meaning how many products were actually sold, grew 2.8%, well above the 1.5% analysts expected. Total sales were 22.76 billion Swiss francs, and the first nine months grew 3.7% on an organic basis, which strips out currency swings and deals. Nestlé also removed its Russian business, about 2% of sales, from its accounts after Moscow seized control of the assets.
Why it matters
Nestlé, the maker of Nescafé and Maggi, is trying to show it can grow by selling more products, not just by raising prices. Price rises added only 1.1% to third-quarter growth, while volume added 2.8%, which suggests shoppers are still buying. Keeping its 3%–4% full-year target gives investors some evidence that the plan under chief executive Philipp Navratil is working, though Europe grew just 1.2%.
