What happened
Anthropic is targeting a $2 trillion valuation in its planned October Nasdaq IPO after annualized revenue surpassed $100 billion, with Nvidia in talks to commit $10 billion as anchor investor. Revenue has jumped more than tenfold from the $9 billion annualized pace at the start of 2026, climbing to $65 billion by July and topping $100 billion by September. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Citigroup are underwriting an offering that sources say could raise up to $100 billion — the largest initial public offering ever staged.
Why it matters
Anthropic's planned listing would set a new record for the largest IPO in history, eclipsing SpaceX's $1.77 trillion debut in June 2026, and would give ordinary investors their first direct stake in a frontier AI model company. A successful $2 trillion listing would make the Claude maker more valuable than Alphabet, validating the idea that building the world's most capable AI is a business worth trillions of dollars. It would also reset valuation expectations for other large AI companies that have not yet gone public, above all OpenAI.
