Oil Holds at $105.92 After Ryazan Refinery Strike
Why is oil flat after the Ryazan refinery strike?
Oil (Brent, BZ=F) slipped 0.13% to $105.92 a barrel on Thursday, even as Ukraine struck Rosneft's Ryazan refinery after Zelenskyy dropped the US-brokered energy ceasefire.

What happened
Oil (Brent, BZ=F) slipped 0.13% to $105.92 a barrel on Thursday, even as Ukraine struck Rosneft's Ryazan refinery after Zelenskyy dropped the US-brokered energy ceasefire. The refinery, owned by state-run Rosneft, handles nearly 5% of the oil Russia turns into fuel. A fire broke out, Russia's Defense Ministry confirmed the attack, and state TV aired footage of the damage for the first time since the war began. Zelenskyy said Ukraine paused refinery strikes for three days at US request but resumed because Russia kept hitting Ukraine's power grid.
Why it matters
Oil is holding near $106 a barrel, and the end of the energy ceasefire means fuel plants on both sides stay targets. Ryazan has been hit before, with operations halted after attacks in May, July and September, so repeat damage could squeeze Russian fuel supply. US diesel rose above $6 a gallon last month for the first time ever, and Trump blames Ukraine's strikes, while Zelenskyy blames the blocked Strait of Hormuz.
