What happened
Haemonetics (HAE) stock rose about 15% to near $117.50 on Thursday after CSL said it will roll out the company's plasma-collection devices across all its US centers by the end of 2027. CSL is a major collector of plasma, the part of blood used to make medicines. In August the two firms signed a deal with no minimum purchase and no set timing or number of centers. Shares were up as much as 17% before the market opened. Haemonetics will update its own forecast (guidance) in November.
Why it matters
Haemonetics now has a clearer path to selling machines and single-use supplies (disposables) to one of the biggest US plasma collectors. Disposables mean repeat sales, because each donation needs new ones. Analyst firm BTIG says CSL's US business gave Haemonetics about $155 million of sales in fiscal 2024. The deal has no minimum purchase, so its final size is still unknown.
