What happened
Meta (META) stock rose 27% in September and traded near $743 on Tuesday as demand for its Muse AI agent led Wells Fargo to raise its target to $1,000. Muse is Meta's personal AI assistant app, launched on September 8, and it quickly hit No. 1 among free apps on Apple's App Store. On September 29, Meta added Muse for Small Business, which links the agent to tools such as Slack, Canva and QuickBooks. Wells Fargo analyst Ken Gawrelski said the stock can "soar much higher," lifting his target from $796 to $1,000, about 35% above Monday's close.
Why it matters
Meta is spending heavily on AI, and Muse is the product now driving the stock's rebound. About 3 million people use it each week, which is still small next to Meta's advertising business, which brought in $60.8 billion last quarter. Wells Fargo also expects Meta's 2027 profit to dip because AI costs are rising faster than new revenue, with the payoff coming from 2028.
