What happened

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock rose 3.8% to about $656 on Tuesday after Citi lifted its price target to $800 and CEO Lisa Su promised more supply in 2027. Citi analyst Atif Malik expects the market for server processors (CPUs) to grow from $29 billion in 2025 to $300 billion by 2030, as AI agents that do tasks for users need far more computing power. Citi kept its Buy rating and named AMD the main winner, partly because Meta is a large AMD customer. Su told reporters in Taipei that demand is "very, very high" and higher than AMD's supply.

Why it matters

Advanced Micro Devices is being treated as a main winner as AI spreads beyond chatbots into software agents that need many more processors. Su's comments suggest customers want more chips than AMD can currently make, so extra supply in 2027 could mean more sales. The stock is already valued at about $1 trillion, so expectations are high.
