What happened
Rocket Lab (RKLB) stock rose about 5% to $73.27 premarket on Thursday after it signed a 20-launch Electron deal with Synspective, the company's largest commercial launch contract. Synspective, a Tokyo satellite-imaging firm, will fly its radar satellites on those launches between 2028 and 2031. That lifts its total orders to 47 launches and pushes Rocket Lab's list of booked launches (its backlog) above 100 for the first time. Separately, spice maker McCormick (MKC) beat profit forecasts and gained as much as 5% premarket, but shares later turned lower.
Why it matters
Rocket Lab now has work lined up for years from its biggest launch customer. The 20 launches run through 2031, so they add to future business rather than boosting sales today. The price of the deal was not disclosed, so its dollar value is unclear. McCormick's beat helped briefly, yet its shares are still down about 32% this year.
