What happened
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) stock rose about 7% on Friday to a record near $70 after a $1.2B AMD Helios AI rack order from Vultr and a higher networking growth forecast. Vultr, a private cloud company, ordered racks built around AMD's new AI chips, called Helios. It is HPE's first Helios order. HPE also raised its 2027 growth forecast for networking, the gear that links computers, to the high-teens to low-20s percent. Teradyne (TER), which makes chip-testing machines, rose about 8% after launching testers for AI memory (Magnum E2) and optical chips (Iris 100).
Why it matters
Hewlett Packard Enterprise's $1.2B Vultr order shows that AI data-center spending is still turning into real orders for server makers. Teradyne's jump shows the same demand reaching the companies that test the chips and memory inside those machines. HPE has gained about 189% this year (per), so expectations are high and the share price can swing fast.
