What happened
Jabil (JBL) stock fell 10% to $286.86 on Wednesday despite beating Q4 earnings estimates, as investors weighed profits arriving later in the year, heavy spending and memory supply warnings. Sales for the quarter rose 29% from a year ago to $10.6B, about $900M above what analysts expected. Jabil also forecast sales of $44.5B and adjusted profit of $17.55 per share for its next fiscal year, both above analyst forecasts. Its supply chief said memory chips are being redirected to AI and data-center customers, leaving less for other markets.
Why it matters
Jabil builds the servers and hardware that go inside AI data centers, so its results show how healthy the AI building boom is. Demand looks strong, but memory chips are getting scarce because AI buyers are absorbing more of the supply, which can make it harder to build other electronics too. The drop also shows how high expectations were. Even after it, the stock is still up about 26% so far this year.
