- Full-year 2026 revenue is now projected at about $1 billion, with 2027 growth of at least 60%.
Lead
Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC) reported record third-quarter revenue of $291 million on Tuesday, up 118% from a year earlier and 44.7% from the second quarter. The result beat a consensus of about $256 million. The chipmaker also raised its annual outlook and guided fourth-quarter sales well above Wall Street forecasts. Shares gained 7.15% in extended trading to $102.26, after a 2.66% advance in the regular session.Non-GAAP earnings were $0.72 per share, against a consensus of roughly $0.56. GAAP earnings were $0.08 per share. Non-GAAP gross margin reached 70.9%, and GAAP gross margin was 67.4%.
What Drove the Quarter?
The quarter was driven by AI data center demand and by the contribution of the AMI acquisition. Revenue from field-programmable gate arrays, the reconfigurable chips that are Lattice's core product, grew about 90%. The company cited accelerating demand from AI infrastructure alongside continued strength in industrial and embedded applications.
AMI, acquired earlier this year, contributed $39 million in the quarter, above expectations. Management said the deal has produced four joint solutions covering rack boot, security retrofit and power management. The security retrofit product lets data center operators upgrade existing server fleets without replacing hardware.
Lattice FPGAs typically sit beside larger processors in servers and handle system-management tasks such as boot sequencing, power control and security. As AI clusters add racks and accelerators, the number of these supporting chips per system rises. That is why the company is increasingly grouped with ai stocks, though its revenue base is far smaller than that of the accelerator makers.
How Does the New Guidance Compare With Expectations?
Fourth-quarter guidance sits well above the Street. Lattice expects revenue of $325-345 million, a midpoint of $335 million, against a consensus near $294 million. Non-GAAP gross margin is forecast at 72%, plus or minus one point. Non-GAAP earnings are guided to $0.82-$0.86 per share, compared with a consensus of about $0.60.
For full-year 2026, the company now projects:
- Revenue of about $1 billion, roughly 90% growth.
- FPGA revenue above $900 million, growth of more than 70%.
- Earnings of about $2.50 per share, roughly 140% growth.
Management also set an early marker for 2027, with revenue growth of at least 60% and a compound annual growth rate above 30% over the next five years.
Why Did the Shares React This Way?
The shares rose because the results and guidance beat expectations on revenue, margin and earnings together. Revenue exceeded consensus by more than 13%, and the Q4 revenue midpoint is about 14% above the Street. The 2027 growth target of at least 60% extends the growth story beyond the current year. Margin direction mattered too. Non-GAAP gross margin of 70.9% in Q3 and a 72% target for Q4 point to operating leverage as volumes scale.
The after-hours gain also followed a rise in the regular session, so part of the good news was already priced in ahead of the release. Semiconductor investors have favored companies with direct exposure to AI infrastructure spending, and Lattice's results add evidence that the benefit extends to the supporting-silicon layer of the data center.
Strategic Context
Lattice has historically been a mid-sized supplier to communications, industrial and automotive customers, with a cyclical downturn in industrial demand weighing on results over the past two years. The latest quarter points to a recovery in that base, with a second leg of growth from data centers. The AMI acquisition adds firmware and platform software expertise that helps Lattice sell integrated solutions rather than standalone chips, which supports pricing and margins.
The main variable is concentration. Data center demand depends on hyperscaler capital spending, which can shift quickly, and the 2027 target assumes that AI build-outs continue at pace.
Outlook
Lattice enters the fourth quarter with record revenue, expanding margins and guidance that implies sequential growth of roughly 12-19%. The next test is delivery against the $325-345 million range and the company's first detailed read on 2027 demand. Those figures will show whether AI-driven demand and the AMI platform can sustain growth of at least 60% next year.
