What happened
Rocket Lab (RKLB) stock rose about 5% in premarket trading on Thursday after signing its largest-ever Electron deal, and Citi began coverage with a Buy rating and $105 price target. Tokyo-based Synspective, which runs radar-imaging satellites, booked 20 more launches on Rocket Lab's Electron rocket, one a year from 2028 to 2031. That brings Synspective's total to 47 launches, the most of any Rocket Lab customer, and lifts Rocket Lab's list of booked launches (its backlog) past 100. Price terms were not disclosed.
Why it matters
Rocket Lab is landing bigger, longer orders for its small rockets, which gives investors a clearer view of future sales. One customer has now booked launches years ahead, and more than 100 launches are waiting to fly. Citi's Buy rating adds a large Wall Street firm to those following the stock. The company still loses money, with a $49.3 million loss last quarter, so the stock depends on continued growth.
