Hasbro (HAS) Q3 2026: Magic Record Lifts Stock 11%

Hasbro (HAS) shares jumped 11% after Q3 2026 results beat forecasts, with record Magic: The Gathering sales, a raised outlook and a doubled buyback target.

  • Q3 revenue rose 15% to $1.595 billion; adjusted EPS of $2.90 compared with $1.86 expected.
  • Magic: The Gathering revenue hit $616.1 million, up 34% and the first quarter above $600 million.
  • 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance rose to $1.575-$1.625 billion; the buyback target doubled to at least $200 million.

Lead

Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS) reported third-quarter 2026 results on Tuesday, October 20, that exceeded expectations on revenue and profit. The shares rose about 11% and reached a new 52-week high. Net revenue climbed 15% to $1.595 billion, against roughly $1.48 billion expected. Adjusted earnings reached $2.90 a share, up 73% from a year earlier. The toy and games maker raised its full-year outlook and doubled its 2026 share repurchase target.

What Drove Hasbro's Third-Quarter Beat?

The Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming segment drove the beat, with revenue up 31%. Magic: The Gathering revenue rose 34% to $616.1 million, helped by The Hobbit and Reality Fracture releases and strong tabletop and digital demand. Year to date, Magic revenue stands at $1.631 billion, up 34%.

The segment's operating margin was about 49% in the quarter, and its nine-month operating profit reached $935.1 million on $1.993 billion in revenue. Digital contributed as well: Monopoly Go! generated $41 million in the quarter and $127 million year to date.

Consolidated adjusted operating profit rose 52% to $541 million, a margin of 33.9%. Adjusted EBITDA increased 46% to $604.5 million. Favorable mix, cost productivity and about $55 million in tariff refunds supported profitability.

How Did the Toy Business Perform?

Consumer Products revenue grew 4%, led by Marvel, Transformers and K-pop Demon Hunters merchandise. The Entertainment segment grew 9%. Consumer Products is a smaller profit contributor than Wizards but has improved sharply, with nine-month adjusted operating profit of $129.5 million, up 119%.

It was the fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth for Hasbro, CEO Chris Cocks said, as the company continues to shift its earnings base toward gaming and licensed franchises.

Why Did Hasbro Shares Rise 11%?

Hasbro shares rose because the quarter beat on every major measure and management lifted all key full-year targets. Adjusted earnings exceeded expectations by more than 50%, and the guidance raise implies a stronger second half than previously projected.

The updated 2026 outlook:

  • Revenue growth in constant currency of 7-9%, up from 5-7%.
  • Adjusted operating margin of 27-28%, up from 25-26%.
  • Adjusted EBITDA of $1.575-$1.625 billion, up from $1.45-$1.50 billion.

The move extended a rally that had already carried the stock above its 200-day moving average of about $89.89 before the report.

What Does the Doubled Buyback Mean for Shareholder Returns?

The doubled buyback raises the 2026 repurchase target to at least $200 million from at least $100 million, adding to a quarterly dividend per share of $0.70, payable December 2, 2026. Hasbro returned $206 million to shareholders through dividends and repurchases in the quarter.

CFO Gina Goetter said the company is "balancing investment with returning cash to shareholders." Hasbro also prefunded $79 million of debt through bond repurchases and Treasury purchases. Long-term debt stood at $2.616 billion at quarter end, including a current portion of $893.9 million. Operating cash flow for the first nine months totaled $907.3 million.

Strategic Context

The results reinforce the change in Hasbro's profit mix. Wizards and Digital Gaming accounts for the majority of segment revenue year to date and earns margins of roughly 47%, several times those of traditional toys. Magic's release cadence and digital reach give the franchise a recurring revenue base that is less exposed to retail seasonality and tariff swings than physical toy lines.

Licensed properties and entertainment tie-ins continue to support Consumer Products, which is growing at a low-to-mid single-digit pace while margins recover.

Outlook

Hasbro enters the fourth quarter with higher full-year targets, a larger repurchase commitment and a gaming franchise operating at record scale. The raised guidance implies continued double-digit growth in Wizards, with Consumer Products supported by licensed franchises. Tariff refunds were a one-time contributor in the third quarter, so underlying margin performance remains the key measure for the holiday period.
