Anyone considering MLPI should ask three questions. First, what is the fund’s track record versus a passive MLP index? Does MLPI’s outperformance exceed its fee premium? Second, is the management team stable, or have there been significant departures? A manager’s edge often travels with the person. Third, what is the fund’s exposure to energy-transition risks? Does the portfolio hold partnerships that are adapting to decarbonization, or is it purely traditional midstream?
