Technology is the story of scale and winner-take-most dynamics. A successful software platform can grow to serve billions of users with almost no marginal cost; an unsuccessful one can become worthless overnight. The MSCI USA PureCap Information Technology Index includes every publicly traded technology company in the United States that meets MSCI’s capitalization and liquidity standards. Hardware (phones, computers, peripherals) sits between: some fixed costs (factories, design) but also high operating leverage.

Why pure cap matters in technology
